At the End Of the Day

Perhaps you've been following the site; perhaps you've been wondering why it hasn't been updated for so long. Like, really, what the hell happened to those two! Did they get lost in The Alhambra? Were they spirited away by a traveling band of gypsies and forced to join their circus parade? What exactly is going on here? Is the adventure over? Are they dead?

Well, we're not dead. And the adventure's not over. It's just continuing back stateside. I guess we'll have to modify that logo to say: Chris & Cheong in America. And when next we travel, perhaps it will say: Chris & Cheong do Japan, or …Paddle the Yangtze, because you can never really shuck that bug once you've got it. Either you're someone who travels, or you're not. For us, I think we were surprised to learn that it was as much an emotional journey as a geographical one. We've scratched a few itches, and eased our minds about a lot of things.

  • We learned that small towns are not for us.
  • We know that Chicago really is home.
  • We know that corporate careers are not in our future.
  • We learned that where you're from holds sway over where you're going.
  • And, as the Irish like to say, at the end of the day, for us it's about being together and exploring the give and take of each other's lives. It's not the country, it's the attitude. And after five years of marriage, we're only getting better at that.

Is it good to be back? Absolutely. Are we glad we went? Of course we are. Who knows, we may even keep this website going. Like I said, we're not dead – the adventure's not over.
